Is punta cana safe to travel with kids?

Punta Cana is the safest thing a tropical Caribbean destination can be. It is one of the safest cities to visit in the Caribbean, with one of the lowest crime rates. Millions of travelers enjoy the tropical paradise every year without incident. Safety is always an issue when traveling with children, but the Dominican Republic is relatively safe and easy to travel with children.

Compared to other parts of the Caribbean we've been to, the Dominican Republic is quite prosperous and most of the coastal towns are relaxed, quiet and safe. Only some parts of Santo Domingo (which is the largest city in the Caribbean) can be quite dubious, but stay in the old town and you'll be absolutely fine. When traveling with children, safety is often the number one priority. However, Cancun and Punta Cana are safe places for tourists, as long as you keep up your wits.

They generally aren't life-threatening, but it's good to know these issues to determine if it's safe to travel to Punta Cana at this time. However, Punta Cana is a fairly relaxed place with all kinds of people and Dominicans tend to be very open; obviously, there are exceptions. Even so, Uber or pre-booked airport transfers in Punta Cana are safer, since you know who you're driving with and where you're going. Also, keep in mind that tap water is not drinkable in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic, however, it is considered safe for brushing your teeth. As you can see from those crime statistics, Punta Cana is considered to be relatively safer than New York or Miami. However, in my opinion, you can also safely travel to Punta Cana without the hepatitis A vaccine, especially if it's a vacation at a resort in the Dominican Republic.
